The National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA) on Monday, June 15, 2026, commenced a four-day training programme on the Procurement Requisition Module of the Salone Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) System, marking another step in the Government’s drive to digitize and strengthen public procurement processes.

The training, which is being held at the e-GP Training Room in the Lotto Building, Freetown, has brought together representatives from fifteen pilot Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). Participants include Vote Controllers, Heads of Procurement Units, Heads of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and Heads of Finance.

According to NPPA, the programme forms part of ongoing efforts to build the capacity of key public officials ahead of the phased rollout of the Salone e-GP System, a digital platform designed to modernize procurement operations across Government.

To facilitate effective learning and practical engagement, participants have been divided into two groups. The first group is attending sessions from June 15 to 16, while the second group will undergo training from June 17 to 18.

Speaking at the opening session, NPPA Director of ICT/e-GP, Dr. Mohamed Baba Turay, encouraged participants to actively engage in the training and practical exercises to gain hands-on experience with the system.

He said the successful implementation of the Salone e-GP System depends largely on the ability of users to effectively operate the various modules being introduced.

Dr. Turay noted that the Procurement Requisition Module training is part of a broader capacity-building initiative aimed at equipping procurement practitioners and other stakeholders with the skills required to use the digital platform efficiently.

This training is designed to provide participants with practical knowledge and skills in using the Procurement Requisition Module. We expect participants to become champions of the system within their institutions as we continue the phased rollout of the Salone e-GP System,” he said.

The Procurement Requisition Module enables authorized users to create, manage and submit procurement requests electronically. The system is expected to improve efficiency, transparency, accountability and compliance in public procurement.

During the training, participants are receiving practical instruction on requisition creation, approval workflows, budget integration, document management, technical team assignments and procurement planning alignment.

NPPA said the training represents another milestone in the implementation of the Salone e-GP System, which seeks to align Sierra Leone’s public procurement framework with international best practices through the use of digital technology.

Following the completion of the training on June 18, NPPA will host a nationwide webinar on June 19 to provide broader stakeholder engagement on the Procurement Requisition Module and the overall benefits of the Salone e-GP System.

The webinar is expected to bring together MDAs, Civil Society Organizations, suppliers, contractors, development partners and other stakeholders involved in public procurement across Sierra Leone.

NPPA reaffirmed its commitment to advancing procurement reforms and leveraging technology to promote transparency, efficiency and accountability in public service delivery.
