In preparation for International Women’s Day, the National Revenue Authority (NRA) has held a series of school engagements by imploring one of its taxpayer education programs titled “Catch Them Young”.

The engagement sought to educate and inspire young girls on the importance of self-empowerment, and early tax awareness thereby providing insight about the Sierra Leone tax system and their obligations to pay tax as future entrepreneurs, employees and professionals in various sectors.

The engagement also provided knowledge on the role of tax revenues in national development and the role of women in taxation.

The drive continued on March 4, 2025, where the NRA team visited Vine Memorial School, Methodist Girls High School (M.G.H.S), and the Freetown Secondary School for Girls (F.S.S.G) during which students were oriented on the significance of International Women’s Day.

The sessions emphasized the importance of self-motivation and empowerment, encouraging young girls to strive for leadership and economic independence.

Continuing the outreach on March 5, the team further engaged students at the Annie Walsh Memorial School, discussing key topics such as women in taxation, career opportunities in the field, tax compliance, and the vital role of women in shaping economies.

Through these interactive sessions, the NRA reinforced the message that women are pivotal to national development and that understanding taxation is key to economic growth and sustainability.
