A delegation from the National Revenue Authority (NRA) of Sierra Leone, led by Commissioner of Customs Services Department Tennyson Bio, has embarked on a benchmarking mission to the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA).

This visit aims to evaluate the successful implementation of the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) WORLD system, and the primary goal is to enhance operational efficiency and improve revenue collection in Sierra Leone.

The NRA team, which includes key officials such as Felix Jusu, Assistant Commissioner of Monitoring Intelligence and Investigations, and Mrs. Lizbal Heroe, Assistant Commissioner of Central Services, seeks to learn from the GRA’s experiences in fully integrating this customs management software.

Commissioner Bio highlighted the strong ties between Sierra Leone and The Gambia, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the two revenue administrations. He stated, “The purpose of this visit is to solicit support to close the gaps in the NRA Customs ASYCUDA World, referencing GRA’s efforts to tackle all the major issues of successfully implementing the system.”

The delegation is interested in identifying key successes and best practices from the GRA that can be adapted to improve their own customs processes. In addition to gathering insights, the NRA expressed hopes to solicit support from the GRA to aid in the complete implementation and optimization of ASYCUDA WORLD.

The collaboration is expected to strengthen the partnership between the two countries’ revenue authorities, ultimately contributing to better customs management and increased revenue generation in Sierra Leone.
