Orange Sierra Leone, a leading mobile company in the country, orchestrated a noteworthy one-day workshop on Ethics & Compliance Day Celebration with their Partners at its headquarters in Freetown on November 20, 2023. The focal point of the workshop was the critical theme of “Corruption Risk Map-Scenarios & Mitigation Plan.”

Cheikh Diongue Mbaye, the distinguished Governance, Internal Control & Audit Director, served as the guest speaker, shedding light on essential aspects of ethical practices and compliance in the business realm. The workshop aimed to fortify the commitment to integrity and transparency within Orange Sierra Leone and its network of partners.

Elizabeth MA Fatoma, the Head of Ethics and Compliance at Orange Sierra Leone, delivered a resounding message during the event. She emphatically asserted the company’s staunch opposition to corruption, categorically stating that partners engaged in fraudulent activities would be deemed criminals. Moreover, partners failing to report such misconduct would be considered complicit in supporting corruption, leading to the termination of their business contract with Orange.

In a clear directive to all partners, particularly suppliers and purchasing associates, Orange Sierra Leone emphasized the imperative of authenticity and strict adherence to contractual laws and regulations. Partners were explicitly warned against involvement in any form of business corruption or bribery. The company articulated that any substantiated evidence of corruption on the part of its partners would result in the immediate termination of contractual agreements.

The workshop served as a proactive measure by Orange Sierra Leone to foster a culture of ethics, compliance, and zero tolerance for corruption within its business ecosystem, reinforcing its commitment to responsible and transparent business practices.
