Orange Sierra Leone has formally marked the end of the tenure of its Chief Executive Officer, Sekou Amadu Bah, following nearly four years of leadership that concluded on December 31, 2025.
A farewell ceremony held on January 7, 2026, at the company’s Hill Station headquarters brought together staff, senior management, and key stakeholders to reflect on his time in office and the transition to new leadership.
During the ceremony, speakers highlighted Bah’s leadership during a period characterised by economic pressures and regulatory challenges in the telecommunications sector. He was credited with providing stability and strategic direction, while fostering a management style described as consultative and inclusive.
Representing employees, Elizabeth Clarissa A. Walker, Head of Orange Sierra Leone Connect, noted Bah’s emphasis on staff welfare and engagement. She referenced initiatives aimed at supporting employees and acknowledged his decision to appoint Sierra Leoneans to senior management roles traditionally occupied by expatriates, a move seen as strengthening local capacity within the company.
Joseph Saffa Tengbeh, Vice President of the Orange Men’s Association, pointed to improvements in internal systems, capacity building, and accountability under Bah’s leadership.
Similarly, Priscilla Okechukwu, President of Orange Women, highlighted progress in gender inclusion, stating that more women advanced into leadership positions during his tenure. She also cited developments in digital services and operational transformation.
Incoming Chief Executive Officer, Aïcha Touré, described Bah’s tenure as impactful, noting advances in customer experience, IT infrastructure, and network expansion.
According to Touré, Orange Sierra Leone’s data coverage now reaches more than 90 percent of the population, providing a foundation for continued growth.
In his farewell address, Bah expressed appreciation to the company’s 432 employees, the Board of Directors, shareholders, and his family for their support. He reflected on milestones achieved in expanding connectivity and strengthening infrastructure, while emphasising teamwork as a key driver of the company’s progress. He also encouraged staff to extend the same cooperation to the incoming CEO.
The ceremony concluded with farewell messages from departments and regional teams, the presentation of gifts, and a standing ovation, marking both the close of Bah’s tenure and the commencement of a new leadership chapter for Orange Sierra Leone.
