The Parliament of Sierra Leone has officially approved Asmaa James as the country’s new Deputy Ambassador to Brussels, Belgium.
This appointment, confirmed today Thursday 8th August 2024, marks a significant shift for James, who has previously been a prominent figure in Sierra Leone’s media landscape.
Before this recent appointment by President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, Asmaa James was a well-regarded journalist and senior radio host with over two decades of experience.
She is also known for her work as a gender and human rights activist and philanthropist. James has made notable contributions to broadcast journalism and has played a key role in enhancing democratic governance both in Sierra Leone and across the continent.
Her appointment to this diplomatic role is expected to bring her extensive experience and commitment to public service to the forefront of Sierra Leone’s international relations.
