News teaching our desk has confirmed that the Sierra Leone Parliament has sacked 137 staff in all its 15 Departments.
Weblog232 said the Director-General of Parliament confirmed that the 137 staff were redundant due to what she described as over staffing.
This latest development surfaced days after the country’s Chief Minister, David Sengeh ordered the querying of over 150 public servants in several government ministries.
Sengeh’s directive came after a visit to the MDAs revealed that the said staff were absent, late or return home early before the stipulated time.
Sierra Leone’s public and civil service have faced criticism from both the local population and foreigners.
Wow how are these people going to be replace who is going to take their office
You want to create employment but you are making people redundant in these hard times, what do you think you are going to breed?
The youths have no jobs and hooked on kush and you are instigating sacking of people in their jobs.
There should be a rethink of how to make people productive by introducing news way of working.
Like corruption, you can only reduce it but not eradicate it. That’s a fact.
Wow
An employed worker should. respect time and must honor sacrificial service in accordance of what the Jo b require.Mind you some are looking for job very time and day .
Money nor dey for pay Dem na e mak una dey sack them we know
They don’t have money to pay the workers that’s why they are randomly sacking them we know that 🤣🤣🤣
Non non-sense
If truly is because they were late, absent or went home before off time, the should have punished them some way but not sack them. These people have families to care fore.
The only thing that can salvage this problem is by implementing new sign in and sign out technologies that can be only done by the employees. Eg finger print and face recognition remote sensing.
It is useless to sack them if new means are not adopted to solve this problem.
It’s a good one from the Excellency Chief Minister, others will learn from this…
This is really uncalled for. Other means of punishment would’ve implemented and not sacking 😭
They have to find money somewhere to sustain the bloated cabinet 😩. In Sierra Leone, the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer. Too much suffering in the land 😩😩
Why are so many people talking about punishment and people not showing up to work? This is different. These are employees at parliament and they were sacked because, money nor dae, although the government did not come out and say that exactly. The Director General of parliament was interviewed and she said they are cutting workers, eliminating about 137 positions en for una wae nor understand, these are NOT ELECTED (we’ll ignore tiff tiff election for now) members of parliament, these are the staff. So please learn how to properly stay informed. Yes, a review was done and they cut from the ones who are slackers, but it is a budgetary issue. The people not showing up to work that we were talking about last week are employees in different ministries located in Youyi Bldg who were not at work when the Chief Minister showed up. Separate group and they are only getting a warning letter, although, wae money nor dae, maybe they are next. Please be properly informed for we country sake. As an aside, things are getting seriously bad for people in our country and if our so called soverieign nation loses donor aid because of Bio’s theft of the election, we geh serious problems. There will be economic hell to pay
