Members of Parliament have commissioned a new cadre of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) paralegals in a move aimed at strengthening community-based conflict resolution and expanding access to justice across Sierra Leone.
The commissioning ceremony, held at the Sierra Leone House of Parliament, also marked the parliamentary launch of the Men on a Mission Initiative.
Further, the event brought together Members of Parliament, justice sector institutions, civil society organisations, development partners, and other stakeholders committed to promoting dialogue, mediation, and peaceful conflict resolution.

Representing the Executive Secretary of the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC), Madam Hawa Sally Samai, the Commission’s Deputy Director of Conflict Resolution, Mr Francis Mustapha Sengeh, delivered a goodwill message, describing the initiative as an important step towards strengthening Sierra Leone’s peace architecture.
Addressing the newly commissioned ADR paralegals, Mr Francis Mustapha Sengeh urged them to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, impartiality, and compassion.
He emphasised that successful conflict resolution requires more than legal knowledge, calling on the paralegals to listen with empathy, respect the dignity of those they serve, and provide support that addresses both the legal and human dimensions of conflict.

Finally, reaffirming ICPNC’s commitment to its mandate, Mr Sengeh assured participants that the Commission would continue working with Parliament, civil society organisations, development partners, and other stakeholders to promote dialogue, strengthen social cohesion, and support peaceful conflict resolution across Sierra Leone.
