The Commissioner General of the National Revenue Authority Mrs. Jeneba Kpaka-Bangura has revealed in a Press briefing that the Parliament of Sierra Leone has set a NLe14.972 billion as a target for NRA in 2024.
Commisioner Bangura said NRA collected NLe 10.1 billion in 2023 from the NLe10.277 billion target set by IMF which is about 4% short. This according to her was due to the 2023 General Election, Curfew, and other security issues in the country.
The Commissioner General further urged citizens to use the Electronics Cash Register (ECR) in other to collect their GST receipt. She said by collecting receipts from the ECR you have ensured your GST payment goes to the Government.
The Parliament of Sierra Leone approved Jeneba Kpaka Bangura as the Commissioner-General of the National Revenue Authority (NRA) in December 2023.
Jeneba Kpaka Bangura, commonly known as Mrs. Bangura, is a well-known figure in the country’s tax administration and system. Her journey within the NRA includes serving as Deputy Commissioner General from November 2018 to July 2023, during which she played a pivotal role in overseeing the transition from manual processes to comprehensive digitalization programs.
Mrs. Bangura brings over 25 years of expertise in public and financial policy, as well as accounting in government, private, and non-profit sectors. Holding the title of Certified Public Accountant and possessing a master’s degree in public administration, she has established herself as an astute financial management expert.
