Residents of Samsumana Drive, Imatt, Cluster, and surrounding areas in Freetown have been reeling under a prolonged electricity blackout that began on November 8, 2024.

Despite repeated complaints to relevant authorities, the issue remains unresolved, sparking widespread frustration and concern among the affected communities.

According to reports, the residents have engaged the Imatt Electricity Substation, Wilberforce Electricity Substation, and Falcon Bridge officials to address the crisis. However, no concrete actions have been taken to restore power. The blackout has severely disrupted daily activities, with residents citing significant impacts on their social and economic well-being.

Speaking to the press, a frustrated resident said, “We’ve reported this issue multiple times, but nothing has been done. Businesses are suffering, children can’t study, and the security risks at night are escalating. It’s unbearable.”

Community members also fear that the prolonged darkness has heightened security risks, leaving residents vulnerable to criminal activities. They are now calling on government officials and the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) to intervene urgently to restore electricity and address the root cause of the issue.

Meanwhile, the residents are appealing for immediate action, emphasizing that the ongoing blackout is not only a technical issue but also a serious threat to their livelihoods and safety.
