Over 40 physically challenged individuals in Dea Baiwala Chiefdom, Kailahun District, are demanding that the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) fulfill its pledge of a NLe 2,660 cash transfer.

According to Munya Swarray, Chairman of the Sierra Leone Union on Disability Issues for the chiefdom, NaCSA has registered these individuals for cash transfers multiple times, issuing them SIM cards as part of the process. However, the promised financial assistance has yet to materialize.

Speaking to Sierraloaded, Swarray described the community’s living conditions, emphasizing the hardship faced by the over 70 men, women, and children with disabilities. He urged NaCSA to honor its commitment.

Echoing these concerns, Vice Chairman Andrew Bockarie Konneh and Chairlady Hawa Conteh highlighted the disparity between Dea Baiwala and other chiefdoms that have received cash transfers and other support from NaCSA and other organizations. They characterized the repeated registration process as deceptive and called on the government and humanitarian agencies to intervene.
