The Presidential Initiative on Climate Change, Renewable Energy, and Food Security (PI-CREF) hosted Dr. Timothy Olalekan Williams, the African Development Bank (AfDB) Special Envoy for Feed Africa, and Ms. Halima Yussuf Hashi, AfDB’s Sierra Leone Country Manager.
Dr. Williams emphasized PI-CREF’s strategic role and followed up on discussions about the Presidential Delivery Committee and the Feed Salone Programme.
Mr. Pete Kaindaneh, speaking on behalf of PI-CREF’s chairman, Hon. Dr. Kandeh Yumkella, highlighted their partnership with AfDB and PI-CREF’s involvement in the Feed Salone strategy.
He also mentioned PI-CREF’s role in facilitating international support for renewable energy and food security projects, including raising USD 800 million with the OPEC Fund.
Dr. Martin Gbonda discussed PI-CREF’s collaboration with UNDP and government ministries on climate action projects. AfDB’s Halima Hashi encouraged PI-CREF to continue advocating for climate adaptation and renewable energy.
This visit reinforced the collaboration between PI-CREF and AfDB in addressing climate change and food security challenges in Sierra Leone.
