The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has opened a new round of recruitment for both university graduates and non-graduates to join the force at the rank of Police Constable.

This was announced in a public notice dated 24 May 2025.

According to the SLP, application forms are now available on the official website at www.police.gov.sl. Forms that were previously collected from various regional police headquarters are still valid and will be accepted for submission.

The completed forms must be returned to either the Human Resources Directorate at the SLP Garment Factory in Kingtom, Freetown, or to Human Resources partners at any of the regional police headquarters. The notice clearly states that only forms officially stamped and signed by the Director of Human Resources will be accepted for processing.

To be eligible, applicants must be citizens of Sierra Leone and between 18 and 30 years old. All applicants are required to provide a valid national ID card and submit a letter of recommendation attesting to good character and behavior. This letter can be issued by a senior government official, paramount chief, religious leader, mayor or district chairperson, or the chairperson of a Local Police Partnership Board.

University graduates must hold a degree relevant to policing. Non-graduate applicants are expected to have at least three WASSCE credits, including English Language, and must provide a valid scratch card. All applicants must have no criminal record and should be ready to undergo a full medical screening, including tests for illegal substances.

The SLP also announced that the deadline for submitting application forms has been extended. Forms can now be submitted until Saturday, 7 June 2025 at exactly 4:00 PM. The submission centers listed above remain unchanged.
