Zainab Sheriff, who had been on the Sierra Leone Police’s wanted list, has been captured after several days of intensive pursuit. Authorities say she was found at a secret hideout and is now in police custody as investigations continue.
Reports indicate that Sheriff was arrested outside the popular Royal Fitness and LOR restaurant in Freetown.
Sheriff, a member of the All People’s Congress (APC), was wanted in connection with alleged offences relating to incitement, threatening language, and other related offences. The police had issued a public notice declaring her wanted, with a warrant of arrest referenced as W/A 105/2026.
According to the notice, Sheriff is a Sierra Leonean adult and a model by profession, residing in Freetown. Members of the public were urged to provide any information about her whereabouts to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) or the nearest police station, with a reward offered for useful tips leading to her arrest.
The Sierra Leone Police emphasized that the arrest is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that individuals alleged to have committed offences relating to incitement are brought before the law. As of now, there has been no official statement from Zainab Sheriff or the APC regarding the arrest.
