The Sierra Leone Police have destroyed a major criminal hub called “Kabaya” in Kissy, east of the capital, Freetown. Acting under the command of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police Brima Kanneh, Regional Commander Freetown-East and Kissy Police Division Operations Team on Saturday, 11 October 2025, executed a coordinated raid on the criminal hideout adjacent to the Richard Allen’s Secondary School in Kissy.
The operation resulted in the demolition of makeshift structures used for illegal drug use, sales, and other illicit activities and the clearance of materials that facilitated unlawful gatherings.
AIG Kanneh, after the operation, reaffirmed the Sierra Leone Police’s commitment to protecting lives, upholding the law, and restoring public confidence in community security. He declared that no part of the region will be allowed to become a comfort zone for criminals and warned that similar operations will be extended to other identified hotspots. He urged those engaged in unlawful activities to desist or face the full force of the law.

The successful raid on Kabaya marks a milestone in AIG Kanneh’s campaign to remove criminal enclaves from Freetown-East and demonstrates the Sierra Leone Police’s ongoing dedication to building safer and more disciplined communities.
The AIG encouraged residents to continue collaborating with the police by reporting timely information that can prevent and detect crime. He emphasized that community safety is a shared responsibility and that collaboration between the public and police ensures peace and security.
