The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) on Thursday, 15 January 2026, intercepted a vehicle suspected of transporting illegal drugs at the Mile 38 checkpoint.
The vehicle, registered AWT 232, was driven by Sheku Koroma and carried Abdulai Jalloh as a passenger both residents of Gambo Town, Waterloo. During a routine security inspection, officers discovered twelve parcels of suspected drugs hidden in the vehicle.
Both men were arrested immediately and are currently assisting the police with ongoing investigations.
The SLP Media Team confirmed that further updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
This operation is part of the police’s ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and maintain public safety along key transport routes across the country.

This is a marvelous job done by the joint unit of police and other security aparatus. I saw an opeartional changes at mile 38 check point on Wednesday 14th January. But me having a very high tech experience in security matters knew exactly what was going on. And why the effective checking. Kudos to all personnel.
