The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has launched mobile filling stations at its six regional headquarters across the country. The initiative aims to improve response times and operational efficiency by reducing reliance on public filling stations.

Speaking at the launch, Local Unit Commander (LUC) of Lumley Division, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Mansaray Bob MN, highlighted the challenges faced by officers in responding to distress calls and operational needs due to long queues and closures at public filling stations. “With our own mobile gas stations, we will no longer have to join queues at public filling stations or be told that there is no fuel available,” he said.

CSP Mansaray commended the Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu for putting in place systems and policies that enable the efficient operation of the SLP.

National Petroleum Sales Manager, Vandi Bockarie, emphasized that businesses thrive in a safe and secure environment, which is the responsibility of the police. He noted that the partnership between National Petroleum and the SLP has spanned over 30 years and that this new initiative marks a significant milestone in their partnership.

Head of Stores and Filling Stations, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Martin Jusu Samba revealed that the mobile gas stations have been installed at all regional headquarters of the SLP. According to ASP Samba, the project was initiated by IGP Sellu’s vision to decentralize the supply of fuel to police vehicles.

The launch of the mobile filling stations is expected to enhance the SLP’s ability to respond quickly and effectively to operational needs, ensuring a safer and more secure environment for citizens.
