Alhassan Tejan Kamara, an officer of the Sierra Leone Police’s Operational Support Division (OSD) in Kamakwie, is facing possible dismissal following a disciplinary hearing on charges of misconduct.

The Sierra Leone Police’s Disciplinary Hearing Committee recommended Kamara’s dismissal after he pleaded guilty to assaulting his girlfriend, a brutal incident that has garnered public attention.

The hearing, held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, brought three charges against Kamara, which were examined by the committee. The final decision on his dismissal is pending approval from the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

If the dismissal is confirmed, Kamara may also face criminal prosecution under the Domestic Violence Act of 2007.
