A former Sierra Leone Police Officer and his wife have been arrested in Bo City on Tuesday, August 27, 2025, for allegedly possessing illegal arms and ammunition-related items.
The suspects, identified as Rodney Massaquoi and Mamie Jacob, were taken into custody following a police operation based on intelligence received from concerned residents of Gbondo Town.
The operation was conducted by the Bo East Division’s Operations Team, led by Operations Officer Inspector Evangelist Lahai, at around 10:00 AM.

During a search of their residence, police discovered a single barrel gun, an empty rifle magazine, five pairs of Operational Support Division (OSD) uniforms, three OSD berets, two pairs of boots, a cutlass, a butcher’s knife, three kitchen knives, two OSD belts, and several other items of interest.
Police reports indicated that the arrest stemmed from public concerns about Massaquoi’s suspicious activities, particularly his frequent transport of unusual items to his home during late hours.

Investigations revealed that Massaquoi, who served as a police constable since November 2005, was dismissed from the force in September 2024 after being charged in a cattle larceny case in Pujehun District.
Both Massaquoi and Jacob are currently in police custody, assisting investigators as the case remains under ongoing investigation.
