Sierra Leone Police officers have fired teargas at unpaid census workers at Waterloo.

This is coming when Sierraloaded understands that Payment of training allowances (600,000) to enumerators and supervisors should be ongoing across the country.

At Waterloo where field staff working at Western Rural should be paid was in chaos this afternoon when police officers fired teargas at workers who have not paid.

According to sources, over 500 workers are expected to be paid, but Statistics Sierra Leone only published around 190 names eligible to be paid the training allowances.

This generated discontent among the workers who demanded to know why their names were not on the payment list.

In the course of these, police open teargas firing at workers, disrupting the whole process and leaving the community in chaos.
