The house of Sierra Leone’s main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) Member of Parliament, Hon. Kemokoh Conteh, has been searched by the police following the unrest in the capital on Sunday 26th November, which was pronounced to be a failed coup.

The police as they informed, were acting upon intelligence they received that some of the Pademba Road prison escapees were hiding in the opposition MP’s compound.

The search was carried out in the presence of the Honourable MP. According to him, the police searched the whole compound including the ceiling but found nothing as claimed.

Reacting to the situation, the Honourable MP said He felt embarrassed for being classified in that scenario, being that he is a lawmaker and a law-abiding and peaceful citizen.

He said the police took him by surprise when they took the step to carry out the search, adding that didn’t even present a search warrant.

“They did not go through the procedure, but I was there to make sure none of them engaged in any activities like missiles or bring any foreign material within my compound” he stated.

Expressing his take on the violent incident, he said, there are intelligent officers in the state, therefore they should investigate and get the truth out of the matter.

He called on supporters and members of his party to maintain calmness and peace and work in accordance with the laws of the country.
