The Inspector General of Sierra Leone Police, William Fayia Sellu during the police press conference provided an update on the recent killing of two fugitives who took part in the November 26 2023 failed Coup, describing them as a ‘big threat’.

IGP Sellu, stated that the two military officers, Captain Aish Aba Sensie and Captain TL Conteh who were declared wanted following the failed coup last year, were preparing to stage another coup.

According to the IG, Police had been surveilancing them for weeks prior to their killing. From their hideout, the fugitives had said they were ready to defend themselves in case of any attack on them, according to one of their audios police intercepted.

“We have been able to neutralise a very big threat,” he said. “They were neutralized because they put up resistance.”

The IG disclosed that after the killing of the two fugitives, they found weapons at their hideout in Waterloo, together with printed black and white T-shirts designed with a logo bearing the inscription: “The Movement for the Liberation,’ written at the front of the T-shirts. At the back, the inscription reads “Social Economic and Political Freedom.

He also stated that the fugitives have been receiving support from outside with money being transferred to them through Ria Money.

He further stated that the Police have now mounted massive manhunt to capture anyone having hands in keeping the fugitives who were declared wanted by the State last year.

This is the second coup attempt security officery have foiled after last year’s bloody failed coup that left 18 members of the security services and three attackers dead during an effort to repel the attackers.
