Mrs. Matilda Doris Sellu, wife of the Inspector General of Police and President of the Police Wives Association, on Thursday, February 12, 2026, visited the Moyamba Police Division as part of her nationwide tour to strengthen and update members of the association.
The engagement, held at the office of the Local Unit Commander, CSP Sia Barnadette Sandi, brought together police wives, officers, and key district stakeholders to discuss development initiatives and the welfare of police families.
During the meeting, Mrs. Sellu outlined the purpose of her national outreach, noting that the tour aims to update members on the association’s achievements and plans. She disclosed that through ticket sales and contributions, the association has constructed nine solar-powered boreholes in various police barracks and built 17 restroom facilities in barracks facing urgent sanitation challenges.
Mrs. Sellu emphasized the association’s commitment to improving living standards for police families. She highlighted the availability of loan programs for police wives, noting that only barracks that consistently pay dues will qualify for financial assistance, an initiative designed to promote responsibility, unity, and sustainable development within the police community.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Office of National Security, Legal Aid Board, Local Police Partnership Board, media, and other district stakeholders. Participants commended the Moyamba Police Division for maintaining law and order in the district.
In her remarks, CSP Sia Barnadette Sandi expressed appreciation to Mrs. Sellu and her husband, Fayah Sellu, for their continued support of the Sierra Leone Police and their families. She briefed the delegation on the prevailing crime situation in Moyamba District, strategies adopted by the division, and challenges confronting officers.
CSP Sandi encouraged officers to support their wives’ active participation in the association and called on police wives to uphold unity, cooperation, and mutual support within the community.
The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration between police families and community stakeholders, reinforcing collective action in the fight against crime across Sierra Leone.
