The Judiciary of Sierra Leone has issued a public notice for the commencement of a Supreme Court hearing on the matter of the Proportional Representation (PR) system for the 2023 General Election.
The matter was filed by J.F.K and Partners on behalf of Honourable Abdul Kargbo as First Plaintiff and Councillor Hakiratu Maxwell-Caulker as Second Plaintiff against the Attorney General and Minister of Justice as First Defendant and the Electoral Commission as Second Defendant on the usage of the Proportional Representation (PR System) for the 2023 Multitier elections.
The matter will be presided over by the Honourable Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Desmond Babatunde Edwards, and four other impaneled Honourable Justices. The panel will commence hearing today Monday, 9 January 2023 at 10:00 am.
It is stated that the matter will be aired live on the state broadcaster-SLBC and the AYV media empire. In addition, the Judiciary will stream live on its Facebook and YouTube pages.
