The Office of the President, Sierra Leone, has announced five new appointments to various public institutions, as disclosed in a public notice issued on February 13, 2026.

The appointments, which are subject to approval by Parliament, reflect a reshuffling aimed at strengthening leadership across vital sectors in the country.

In the official release, it was confirmed that His Excellency, President Brigadier General (Rtd.) Julius Maada Bio, has made the following appointments:

Ms. Isata Marrah has been named the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT). This position places her at the helm of the organization responsible for the welfare and social insurance of Sierra Leone’s working population.

Mr. Ambrose M. Sovula is appointed Chairman of the Advisory Committee for the Sierra Leone Commission on Arms and Ammunition. His leadership will be critical in overseeing national security measures related to arms control.

Mr. Ibrahim Abu Bakarr has been appointed Chairman of the Professional Social Work Regulatory Council, a body tasked with overseeing the regulation and professional standards of social work in the country.

Mr. Sheik Rahman Kamara and Ms. Edwina Berewa Esq. both receive appointments as Board Members for the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank. Their roles will focus on guiding the financial institution’s strategic direction and ensuring its role in national economic development.

The announcement, made public through a signed notice by the Secretary to the President, Barba B. Fortune, underscores President Bio’s continued commitment to advancing the governance and management of key national institutions.

These appointments reflect the President’s focus on strengthening public service management and maintaining efficient oversight across critical sectors.

The public notice further emphasized that these appointments are contingent upon the approval of Sierra Leone’s Parliament. The formal approval process is expected to proceed in the coming weeks.
