The First Gentleman of Sierra Leone, President Julius Maada Bio, in his capacity as Chairperson of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), has concluded a high-level meeting with Burkina Faso’s President of the Transition, His Excellency Ibrahim Traoré, in Ouagadougou.
The discussions centered on strengthening regional cooperation, addressing security challenges, and advancing shared priorities within ECOWAS. President Bio reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that Burkina Faso remains an active partner in West Africa’s pursuit of peace, stability, and economic growth.
“As Chairperson of ECOWAS, I am committed to collaborating with my colleagues to promote unity and sustainable growth across our region,” President Bio said following the meeting.
Talks also explored ways to deepen bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso, with both leaders emphasizing the importance of mutual cooperation.
“ECOWAS remains central to West Africa’s collective efforts in promoting trade, security, and development, and the renewed partnership between Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso adds fresh momentum to that vision,” President Bio added.
The engagement underscores ECOWAS’s ongoing efforts to foster dialogue and cooperation among member states, particularly at a time when the bloc is working to deepen economic integration and strengthen political solidarity.
