The nonstop increment of the price of Bag of Rice in Sierra Leone has been tackled for now as prices of bags of different per boiled rice have dropped down.

For the past few months, the cost of Per-Boiled Rice has been increasing at an alarming rate, as some stores were selling a bag of 50 kilos for close to Le 500,000 to Sierra Leoneans.

This has been as a result of the sharp increase in the price of the commodity abroad and the freight charges importers has to pay for their goods, so they had to increase the price of the rice to amount for these charges and to make a little profit for themselves.

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Edward Hinga Sandy, has told the Global Times that, the government and majority of the rice importers have struck a deal which has led to the reduction in the price of per boil rice to Le 341,000 and Le 351,000 depending on the quality of the rice.
