A delegation from the Provincial Security Committee (PROSEC) South expressed gratitude to the 5 Infantry Brigade for their exceptional professionalism during the attempted coup of November 26th, 2023.
The delegation, led by the paramount chief of Kakua chiefdom, Bo district, visited the military base to convey appreciation for the crucial role played in maintaining national security.
Paramount Chief Boima acknowledged the great sacrifice made by the military, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and appreciating acts of valor. “When someone does good, that person needs to be appreciated. That is the appreciation we are here to show today,” PC Boima stated.
Hon. PC Prince Lappia Boima encouraged the military to uphold their professionalism, highlighting that none of the serving military from the 5 Infantry Brigade was implicated in the attempted coup. He commended their dedication to duty and urged them to continue serving the nation with distinction.
The Resident Minister South, Mr. Ali, expressed his admiration for the bravery displayed by the 5 Infantry Brigade during the November incident. “Sierra Leoneans will never forget the role you played on November 26th, 2023,” he said, revealing his connection to the military and conveying sympathy for the loss of their colleagues during the attempted coup.
PROSEC assured the military that the government would bring those involved in the attempted coup to justice. Mohamed E.K Ali emphasized the commitment to maintaining professional armed forces and fostering a strong relationship with all security forces.
In response, Lt-Col. JP Koroma, on behalf of the 5 Infantry Brigade, reiterated their dedication to protecting the country and the government. He acknowledged the commendation from PROSEC, stating, “We took an oath to serve our country and people. We will not betray our mandate as the military.” Lt-Col. JP Koroma expressed gratitude, assuring that the brigade would not forget the recognition bestowed upon them.
