Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, Chairman of Sierra Leone’s Public Account Committee, has announced a significant recovery of 50 billion old leones through ongoing investigations.

Speaking to the press, Hon. Conteh emphasized that this amount represents a substantial milestone but not the end of the committee’s efforts.

“The recovery of 50 billion old leones is a major achievement, but our work is far from over,” Hon. Conteh stated. He assured the public that the committee will continue its extensive review process, now focusing on provincial areas to ensure comprehensive accountability across the country.

The Public Account Committee’s efforts are part of a broader initiative to address financial irregularities and enhance transparency within the government. With public hearings set to extend into the provinces, the committee aims to uncover further discrepancies and ensure that all funds are accounted for.
