The Police Wives Association has provided a solar-powered borehole and a 10,000-liter water tank to improve access to safe drinking water at Masiaka Division.
The facility was handed over Monday, Aug. 17, 2026, as part of an initiative led by PWA President Mrs. Matilda Doris Sellu to address water shortages affecting police personnel and their dependents.
The project followed a social activity organized at Sugar Land Beach, with proceeds designated to support water projects at four police barracks: New Police Barracks, Pujehun, Moyamba and Masiaka.
According to the Sierra Leone Police Media Team, work on the water facilities at the four locations is underway and is intended to improve living conditions for officers and their families residing in police barracks.

The initiative emerged after Sellu toured police barracks across the country following her assumption of leadership of the Police Wives Association. During the visits, the association identified inadequate access to safe and clean drinking water as one of the key challenges affecting police families.
The association subsequently turned to social activities as a way of raising funds to respond to some of the welfare needs identified in the barracks.
Police personnel and their dependents at Masiaka Division welcomed the new water facility and expressed appreciation to Sellu and the Police Wives Association for supporting efforts to improve the welfare of police families.
The PWA said the intervention reflects its continued focus on addressing practical challenges facing police personnel and their dependents.
