In a bid to restore order and ensure the free movement of pedestrians and vehicles, the Regional Police South, in collaboration with key stakeholders, carried out a strategic operation on Wednesday, 8th January 2025, to clear Traders, Drivers, Motorbike Riders, and other unauthorized users from Streets habitually used as Parking Grounds.

The operation, spearheaded by the Regional Operations Commander South, Superintendent Alieu S. Kamara, targeted key areas in Bo City, including Fenton Road, Bojon Street, New London, and Shellmingo. The Sierra Leone Road Safety Corps, Road Safety Committee, Office of National Security (ONS), and Civil Society Organizations partnered in the exercise, lending their support to this critical intervention.

During the operation, Superintendent Kamara expressed disappointment upon discovering Garage Mechanics repairing Motorbikes on the Government culvert and spilling burnt oil across the area. He stressed that such practices not only damage public infrastructure but also pose environmental and health hazards.

The Local Unit Commander (LUC) of Bo West Division, Chief Superintendent of Police Mr. Alphonso Abdulai Fambulleh, widely known as “Correct Man,” actively participated by providing personnel, monitoring the process on the ground, and commending the collaborative efforts. LUC Fambulleh expressed satisfaction with the operation’s success, noting the compliance observed among offenders during the exercise.

This initiative, championed by the Regional Police Commander South, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Mr. Brima Kanneh, addresses long-standing concerns raised by community stakeholders in Bo City. AIG Kanneh emphasized the importance of maintaining Order and Sanity for the safety and convenience of residents, promising continuous operations to address public concerns and improve urban mobility.

Superintendent Kamara assured both LUC Fambulleh and AIG Kanneh that such operations will be sustained to enforce compliance. Tickets were issued to non-compliant Vehicle Drivers, and some vehicles were impounded to deter future violations by the Sierra Leone Road Safety Corps.

The operation aims to achieve a dual purpose: to prioritize Pedestrian Safety and facilitate free movement within the City. The Regional Police Commander reiterated the Police’s commitment to ensuring a Clean, Safe, and Orderly Environment, emphasizing that public concerns will always be treated as a priority.

Community members have lauded the efforts, expressing hope that this initiative marks the beginning of a sustained campaign to restore order in Bo City.
