In a tragic incident early Wednesday morning, an estimated five robbers attacked the residence of Joseph Ayamga, the country director of SEND Sierra Leone, resulting in the death of his guard. The assault occurred at Ayamga’s home in Hanga, just outside Kenema.
Ayamga, a Ghanaian national and head of the gender and leadership organization, came face to face with the attackers. Popular journalist Umaru Fofana reported that a shaken Ayamga recounted how the robbers took his mobile phone and laptop computer, demanding passwords, including those for his OrangeMoney wallet.
SEND Sierra Leone, known for its impactful work, runs a girls’ school of excellence and a women’s radio station in Kenema as part of its diverse portfolio. The organization is among the few national entities headquartered in the provinces.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
