The Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education Conrad Sackey delivered a keynote address at the graduation ceremony of 105 students from EduNations Hope Academy  a historic moment not just for the school, but for the entire Port Loko District that stirred emotions and inspired a renewed sense of purpose for rural education in the country.

“This was no ordinary graduation,” the Minister said passionately. “It was a declaration. A bold statement that hope is alive in our rural communities and that no child is too poor to be brilliant.”

The Minister, visibly moved by the resilience of the students, praised their courage, determination, and ability to rise above the odds. Many of the graduates have come from communities where access to basic resources is a daily struggle. Yet, through EduNations, they have received free education, meals, uniforms, and even boarding opening doors that once seemed unreachable.

The Minister highlighted the growing impact of EduNations, which is now educating nearly 4,000 children across 15 rural schools in Sierra Leone. He commended the organization’s tireless staff, the generosity of international donors, and the unwavering involvement of the Government of Sierra Leone.

“Let me be clear,” the Minister stated. “The state stands with EduNations. From approving schools and teachers to delivering subsidies and technical support, we have walked this journey side by side. We are proud of what’s being built here and even prouder of the young lives being transformed.”

Addressing the graduates directly, the Minister challenged them to lead with purpose and integrity:

“What you do next will shape not just your destiny, but the destiny of this country. Fly with purpose. Fly with pride. Fly for those who couldn’t. And never forget — your wings were built right here, in Rokassa.”

“The future is not something we wait for,” the Minister concluded. “It’s something we build — with policy, with partnership, and with purpose.”
