The Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Conrad Sackey has represented Sierra Leone at the Pre-AU Summit Roundtable in Addis Ababa, hosted by Human Capital Africa.

He was engaged in a high-level session with other Ministers of Education to establish a set of key principles for a robust Foundational Learning Roadmap which is designed to translate commitments into actionable steps and bring about meaningful transformation across Africa’s education systems.

Minister Sackey shared insights from Sierra Leone’s experience in delivering foundational learning outcomes and further spoke about the importance of high-level political buy-in, coordinating effective partnerships, and aligning actions to government strategies in the improvement and development of education.

He stated that learning outcomes continue to remain at the center of efforts as the Ministry continues to work to ensure education is accessible to all children, paying special attention to ensure the inclusion of marginalized members of society and schools in hard to reach places.

This roundtable represented a valuable forum to come together, learn from different country experiences in strengthening foundational learning, and collectively decide on how to move forward and translate promises into actions.

Sierra Leone stands as a testament to most of the educational developmetal roadmap strives, the minister maintianed that, the progress in maintaining and upholding the values of the free Quality School Education in the country always remain a priority to the President and other educational players in the country.
