The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah said since President Julius Maada Bio took office, salaries of civil servants are always paid on time.
Bah made this disclosure in a TV program on AYV while asked if the delay of December salaries of civil servants is connected to the economic situation of the country.
According to Bah, previous governments had challenges in paying salaries, using his parents as examples as they were both public school teachers.
He said everybody was paid before the end of the month though there was a delay due to technical issues from the central bank, as December salaries are normally paid before the 25th which he said is a like a coulter or privilege given to the people.
He clarified that there was no delay in salaries payment as every worker received their salaries within the stipulated time government is supposed to pay salaries which is before the end of the month, adding that he public apologize to some set of workers for not receiving salaries before 25th December.
He said the issue was with the banks as there is now a new system of transfer from the central bank to the commercial banks.
He said though his ministry has apologize to the public it is also important for the public to note that it is not a legal entitlement to received salaries before the 25th of December.
