The World Economic Forum has inducted Sierra Leone’s Minister of Communication, Technology, and Innovation, Hon. Salima Monorma Bah, into its distinguished Young Global Leaders Class of 2025.
She is among 116 remarkable persons under 40 from about 50 nations who are honored for their leadership and dedication to good global change. The World Economic Forum’s YGL program recognizes extraordinary young leaders from a variety of sectors, including government, business, technology, civil society, academia, and the arts.
Hon. Bah is one of few African politicians chosen this year, and he is the second minister in President Julius Maada Bio’s government to win the honor. In 2019, Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh was inducted.
Hon. Bah expressed gratitude and stated the collective nature of the achievement in response to the announcement made.
“I am deeply honoured and humbled to be recognised as part of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders Class of 2025,” she said. “This opportunity is not only a reflection of my personal commitment to advancing technology and innovation in Sierra Leone but also a testament to the collective efforts of my colleagues, the government, and the people of Sierra Leone.”
She added, “Together, we are building a future where young people are empowered, technology is accessible, and our nation’s potential is showcased on the global stage.”
Hon. Salima Bah’s selection recognizes her leadership in promoting digital transformation and socioeconomic growth in Sierra Leone through innovative strategy and youth-focused policies. Her work complements national efforts to improve digital literacy, build ICT infrastructure, and promote equitable access to technology.
The YGL Class of 2025 includes leaders from a variety of fields, from presidents of state and Fortune 500 executives to social businessmen and cultural pioneers, who are dedicated to creating a more inclusive and sustainable future.
