APC Presidential Candidate Samura Kamara has marked the International Day of Peace with a message highlighting the enduring spirit of the people of Sierra Leone and the importance of social justice, democracy, and national unity.
In his statement, Kamara praised Sierra Leoneans for their resilience in the face of electoral challenges and the ongoing struggle to uphold social justice. He emphasized that peace is not merely the absence of conflict but is built on courage, truth, respect, and opportunity.
“Peace is forged through the unrelenting pursuit of justice,” Kamara wrote, noting that Sierra Leone, along with many nations worldwide, stands on the brink of transformation.
He called for a society where democracy is not just promised but fully realized, and where all citizens enjoy equality and opportunity.
Kamara extended his reflections beyond Sierra Leone, acknowledging countries grappling with violence and conflict, including Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Russia, Ukraine, Israel, and Gaza. “Their suffering reminds us that peace is never guaranteed; it is something we must continually work for, defend, and cherish,” he stated.
The APC candidate urged Sierra Leoneans to heal societal divisions, embrace forgiveness, and foster unity in diversity. He stressed the role of dialogue over discord, and hope over despair, in building a nation where no one is left behind.
Concluding his message, Kamara highlighted the potential of peace to unlock opportunities for youth, empower women, and create shared prosperity. “On this International Day of Peace, let us join hands and declare today’s world a beacon of peace for all,” he said
