The former Minister of Foreign Affairs and International cooperation in the erstwhile All People’s Congress (APC) led government, Dr Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara and five others will today face the High court presided over by Justice Adrian Fisher, to continue the on going alleged corruption matter relating to the misappropriation of Millions of United States dollar meant for the renovation of the country’s permanent United Nations Missions chancery building in New York.
The former minister who is also aspiring for the 2023 flagbearer position of the APC, is standing trials alongside five other accused persons on fourty eight count charges brought against them by the Anti-Corruption Commission(ACC).
When the trial resumes today, it is expected that the prosecution will put forward a new witness, possibly the former minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation under the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party, Ambassador Alie Kabba, who was also the head of the chancery. He will be followed by the last expected witness to take the dock.
As things stands now, the court has heard testimonies and statements from most of the prosecution witnesses listed at the back of the charge sheet and is only waiting for the testimonies of the two major remaining witnesses in the matter.
Meanwhile, citizens particularly the APC are calling on the judiciary to speed up the matter, so that the fourth accused, Dr Samura Kamara, who is the APC flagbearer hopeful, will have enough time to campaign, ahead of the forthcoming elections.
