Civil Society Activist, Joseph Sannoh, has accused Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh, of disrespecting the First Lady, Fatima Bio following the Kono miners incident about a fortnight ago.

He claimed that Sengeh’s actions are causing rift within the government.

Sannoh made these remarks following a series of incidents where he claims the Chief Minister has undermined the First Lady’s efforts, especially during her peace-building mission.

“I am talking about ministers and deputy ministers and people who disrespect the First Lady,” Sannoh said. He specifically pointed out Chief Minister Sengeh, alleging that he had shown continuous disrespect toward the First Lady.

According to Sannoh, when the First Lady went to Kono to promote peace, Sengeh became jealous and tried to stop the people of Koidu from supporting her. “When the First Lady went to Kono to make peace, he feels jealous and told Koidu Limited people not to adhere to her because she is not in governance,” Sannoh explained.

Sannoh also warned the Chief Minister to stop his actions immediately. “Chief Minister has disrespected the First Lady many times,” he stated.

He further criticised many ministers and deputy ministers for neglecting their duties, accusing them of focusing more on following the Chief Minister than fulfilling their responsibilities. “Most of these ministers and deputy ministers don’t do their work but rather be behind the Chief Minister anywhere he goes,” Sannoh said.

In his final remarks, Sannoh accused the Chief Minister of being deceitful -playing the victim to avoid responsibility for his actions. “Chief Minister plays the victim game after,” he added.
