Joseph Sannoh Calls For Review of Death Penalty Law

Former Civil Society Activist, Joseph Sannoh has called on the government of Sierra Leone and authorities concern to bring back the death penalty law for certain crimes committed by citizens.

Sannoh made this statement regarding suspects of the November 26th, 2023 attempted failed coup, stating that jailing them will not be commensurate to the crime they have committed if found guilty.

He disclosed that he would soon raise a campaign and liaise with other Civil Society Activists to help champion the cause and bring back the death penalty for certain crimes committed by individuals or groups of people.

He said certain crimes which include robbery with aggravation, Treason, Murder, etc should be charged with the death penalty adding that America and other Western world countries still have their death penalty which applies to certain crimes.

I agreed with your opinion but we should start from 2018 to November 26 2023 because a lot of killing has happen within this short period.

Thank you Mr. Sannoh for your opinion expressed against the expunging of death penalty in this country. I also support your opinion as death penalty can greatly serve as a deterrent against the committing of such crimes as murder, treason, robbery with aggravation etc. It's so unfortunate on the part of the people that have expressed such obscene / indecent languages against Mr. Joseph Sannoh for that of his opinion. Surely, indecent languages are uttered by indecent people. It's inferable that all those that have insulted Mr. Sannoh are in favour of the abortive coup d'etat.,

May God bless the nation of sierra leone. I am sure all of you critisizing Mr. Sannoh would have agreed with him if those killed were one of your brothers, fathers, uncles, sons, or daughters. He suggested and to a certain degrees of crime committed. But some sierra leoneans show off too much, knows all, but still lack knowledge, and they walked with it wherever they go. He failed college exams, is that your business. Why can't you ask your mother to give him her milk so he can get brain smart to write his exams and pass. It is a help from you. Think about it. Are we our brother's keeper? It would have sweeten you all if those killers you are supporting could have killed the president. But, you see there are millions prayer warriors for their head of state, their people, and their nation, sierra leone. Thanks Mr. Joseph Sannoh for your opinion expressed against the legislation made against death penalty in this country. I am also with the same opinion with Mr. Sannoh. Death penalty should not be expunged as it will definitely serve as a deterrent against the committing of such crimes as murder, treason, robbery with aggravation. In religious perseption, Mr sannoh is right on the track in one way of the other by killing a human being by gun or knife 🗡️ the person too must die by it. I get why he is now a FORMER civil society activist. Why is someone who worked as a civil society activist calling for the death penalty? His statement is also against the suspects that have been arrested. He forgot to take one thing into account, they are just that suspects, they haven't all been found guilty yet and even if some are, I am sure there are those among those that have been rounded up, that are innocent. This to me sounds like he is a paid plant by Bio. A way to be able to kill those he wants out of the way. Look at how he is trying to drag EBK into this.

Thank you Mr Sannoh, this is well said. I urged the parliament to bring back the death penalty immediately before trial begins for these coup plotters. We need to set example with these people.
