Former Civil Society Activist, Joseph Sannoh has called on the government of Sierra Leone and authorities concern to bring back the death penalty law for certain crimes committed by citizens.

Sannoh made this statement regarding suspects of the November 26th, 2023 attempted failed coup, stating that jailing them will not be commensurate to the crime they have committed if found guilty.

He disclosed that he would soon raise a campaign and liaise with other Civil Society Activists to help champion the cause and bring back the death penalty for certain crimes committed by individuals or groups of people.

He said certain crimes which include robbery with aggravation, Treason, Murder, etc should be charged with the death penalty adding that America and other Western world countries still have their death penalty which applies to certain crimes.
