The Minister of Basic Education, David Monina Sengeh has given out an insight view on the development in terms of enrolment in the educational sector in Sierra Leone.
According to Minister Sengeh between 2018 and 2022, the annual school census reports showed over 98% increase in enrolment.
Speaking on the analysis, the minister said there was 400% increase in senior secondary school (SSS) who took the public examination and 200% increase in the pass rates at SSS transitional examination outcomes.
‘’ The trend is consistent at the National Primary School Exam (NPSE) And the Basic Education Certificate Exam (BECE)’’ he maintained, adding that, the dip in 2018 at the start of the free quality education and further in 2019 when they implemented a strict anti-malpractice rules for all examinations that was greatly monitored by the ministry and other related bodies.
‘’2021 and 2022 were true cohorts of the comprehensive FQSE program!’’ he affirmed.
