SLFA President Babadi Kamara visited the Leone Stars camp in Bo City to encourage the players ahead of Saturday’s international friendly against Liberia’s Lone Star at the Southern Arena.

He urged the team to approach the match with the mindset of soldiers defending their country, calling on them to give everything for Sierra Leone and bring joy to citizens both at home and abroad.

President Kamara stressed the importance of maintaining that determination as the nation pursues qualification for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2027 in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.

He described the occasion as historic, noting that Leone Stars will be playing a FIFA Tier one international match on home soil for the first time in many years and for the first time in Bo city.

He said witnessing the national team play at the Southern Arena fulfills a long-held dream and is a reward greater than the investment he made in constructing the Stadium.

President Kamara also assured the players of the Government’s full support and informed them that the newly unveiled Leone Stars Head Coach, Didier Gomes Da Rose, will officially meet the team before the match.

Team Manager Abdul Karim Bangura praised the players’ discipline and professionalism in camp and expressed confidence in their ability to deliver both in the friendlies and the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.

The Leone Stars team captain Mustapha Bundu thanked President Kamara for visiting the camp and assured Sierra Leoneans that the team remains committed to working hard and achieving the country’s football ambitions.

The Sierra Leone national team is drawn together with DR Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Zimbabwe in the same group for the 2027 AFCON Qualifiers to start later this year.
