The Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas Esq., officially introduced Mr. Karmoh K. Conteh to the plenary on Monday as the new Clerk of Parliament.

Mr. Conteh’s appointment follows his nomination by President Julius Maada Bio, in accordance with the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone.

Addressing Members of Parliament, Speaker Thomas commended Mr. Conteh for his extensive experience in parliamentary administration. He highlighted Conteh’s previous roles as Director of the Department of Legislative Services and his work as a Committee Clerk for multiple parliamentary committees. The Speaker lauded Mr. Conteh’s track record in efficiency, effectiveness, and service delivery.

As Clerk of Parliament, Mr. Conteh will:

1. Attend all parliamentary sittings.

2. Serve as the principal advisor to the Speaker and Members of Parliament.

3. Record agreements and decisions passed by Parliament.

Speaker Thomas emphasized that Mr. Conteh’s knowledge and expertise would significantly enhance parliamentary functions and support informed decision-making.

Members of Parliament welcomed the new Clerk with resounding applause and expressed optimism that his contributions will strengthen the performance of Parliament within Sierra Leone’s democratic framework.
