Sierra Leone’s Inspector General of Police-IGP William Fayia Sellu has on the 24th June 2024 hosted a delegation from the Guinean Defence College, on a study tour in Sierra Leone.
The Guinean delegation was Led by Colonel Louis Remy Camara, Director of Training for the Guinean Armed Forces. He expressed gratitude to IGP Sellu for his hospitality and warm welcome explaining that, the staff college was established in Guinea two years ago and that this is the second intake of students to visit Sierra Leone.
The Sierra Leone Police Media Unit reported that, the Guinean delegation chose Sierra Leone for the study tour due to the mutual benefits and support provided by the Sierra Leonean government during the fuel crisis. He also noted that Guinea has always been grateful for Sierra Leone’s support during difficult times.
IGP Sellu welcomed the delegation and praised Colonel Camara’s statements. He highlighted the long-standing relationship between Guinea and Sierra Leone, citing instances where Guinea provided assistance to Sierra Leone during its civil war. The IGP also acknowledged the country’s good neighbourliness with Liberia and Guinea, saying that both countries will continue to support each other for peace and development in the sub-region.
IGP Sellu expressed his desire to have similar visits with his counterparts in the sub-region for knowledge sharing and cooperation. He also commended the strong working relationship he has with his Guinea and Liberia counterparts within the International Police Organization (INTERPOL).
