The Minister of Lands, Housing and Country Planning continues to unite individuals, families and communities that have been struggling with long standing land conflicts across the country with the latest intervention being the settlement of the Gloucester Community access road dispute in Freetown.

The Minister arrived at the troubled community in the afternoon hours of Wednesday August 17 2022 and only returned to his office after ensuring a permanent solution in the matter between the community and one Pa Thompson who is a land owner and also a member of the community.

Dr. Turad Senesie started off by delivering a lecture on the need for unity in the community while stressing that the solution to the problem should be a win-win for the fighting parties.

“Today, Pa Thompson, on one hand, and the rest of the community on the other hand should be ready to make some compromises so that everyone in this community will have an access road and live in peace and unity ever after,” he noted.

The access road which ran through the piece of land owned by Pa. Thompson was then re-surveyed on the spot by a team of surveyors from the Ministry’s Country Planning Directorate and the Minister then used the available facts to make decisions in the best interest of all the parties.

According to Dr. Senesie, he was sent to the Ministry by the President to restore law, order and peace in the sector that has been marred by conflicts for decades.

All the community members including Pa Thompson hailed the dynamic leadership of the Minister which has finally brought peace to the community.
