In a bid to understand what the people need and the challenges they face in terms of their wants, needs, and desires, Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh has rolled out a community engagement strategy in Moyamba District.
Asserting the importance of understanding the aspirations and requirements of the populace, Chief Minister Sengeh emphasized that his administration is committed to aligning governmental agendas with the genuine needs and desires of the people. To achieve this, he actively engaged individuals from various sectors across two chiefdoms in Moyamba District.
Sengeh said that Moyamba is an important district for agriculture, trade, mining, and the overall economy of the country. “This is why the things the people ask for should be national priorities.”
He furthered that, the things these people asked for are not too much to make them feel happy and some of the key ones as he highlighted.
“They want the Songo-Moyamba road made. This will open up the country and improve trade between the West, North and South.
“They want the Moyamba-Shenge Road fixed. This will boost fishing, trade, and tourism.
“They want their township electricity fixed. This is long overdue. The government has invested in machines, distribution networks, and more. For which the minister maintained that the operations and management will start soon.
He also revealed the time he had with the youths at the Ataya Bases of which he said he spent time with them talking about national development and their collective roles, adding that, the young people are ready and prepared for change in the country.
“I believe that these things are essential not just for the people of Moyamba but also for the people of this country. The youth need it. The older generation wants it. And our government desires it.” He concluded.
