The Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority has informed the general Public about an occurrence of a safety nature involving a helicopter with Registration Number ZS-RWT from Monronvia enroute to Banjul via Lungi on 5th August 2023 with Overflights and landing permit number Lp/010823-057 for technical stop only.
The Press Release revealed that unfortunately, the aircraft developed technical issues mi-air and the pilot had to do precautionary landing in an open ground around Newton – Waterloo axis with two crew members onboard.
“The aircraft was searched by the SLP Led by the LUC at Waterloo Division while the SLCAA Safety inspectors carried out the necessary safety checks, and the crew were advised to reposition the aircraft to Hastings for further maintenance and repair.
A team of SLCAA Safety Inspectors, SLP and ONS officers arrive at the scene few hours upon receipt of notification from Lungi Air Traffic Control Tower who had been contacted by the crew,” the release stated.
Meanwhile SLCA has confirmed that that the aircraft is currently under the custody of the RSLAf at Hastings awaiting maintenance team from SKYHORSE AVIATION.
SLCA further assures the general public of its commitment to enhancing safety and security Civil aviation in the country.
