The Government of Sierra Leone has taken a significant step towards strengthening the country’s firefighting capabilities. On Friday, May 31st, 2024, a ceremony was held to officially commission five brand new, multi-purpose fire engines.

The ceremony, led by the Resident Minister Western Area and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, marked a major boost for the National Fire Force.

This investment in firefighting equipment coincides with the graduation of 85 new firefighters who completed their training at the National Fire Force training School in Sima Town Rokel.

The addition of these new fire engines and firefighters will significantly enhance the National Fire Force’s ability to respond to emergencies across Sierra Leone.

This improved response capacity will undoubtedly benefit communities throughout the country.
