The Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) has recently committed one hundred and fifty (150) soldiers to the Economic Community of West African States Monitoring Group (ECOMOG).

This came as a way to help address the current power struggle in the Republic of Niger. This information was recently dis- closed by the Director of Communications at the Ministry of Defense (MOD),Major Issa Bangura.

According to the Director of Communications, the 150 officers will join other ten West African nations that have already committed troops to help address the said security situation in Niger.

The RSLAF Spokesperson also noted that the company of military officers have already been selected and they are currently on standby training. He furthered that this is not the first time that Sierra Leone is committing troops to fight alongside ECOMOG

Meanwhile, the Director of Communications has assured the public that the country is safe and there is no cause for alarm.
