The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) has officially announced that Sierra Leone will host the ECOWAS Network of Electoral Commissions (ECONEC) 2024 Regional Symposium and General Assembly.
This significant event is scheduled to take place from Monday, November 11th, to Tuesday, November 12th, 2024, at the Radisson Blu, Mammy Yoko Hotel in Aberdeen, Freetown.
The theme of the sub-regional conference is “The Role of Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs) in Promoting Information Integrity as a Vital Component in Safeguarding Electoral Processes.”
The symposium aims to address the critical issue of information integrity in elections, highlighting how electoral management bodies can combat misinformation and safeguard democratic processes across West Africa.
The Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chairman of ECSL, who currently serves as the President of ECONEC, will preside over the high-profile event.
Representatives from electoral commissions across the ECOWAS sub-region, alongside other stakeholders, are expected to attend and contribute to discussions on enhancing the integrity and transparency of electoral systems.
